Terry Treetop is the main character of a series of books by Tali Carmi.  I read Where Is My Home?

Little Terry is off on an adventure after chasing a butterfly too far from home.  He's lost, hungry and in need of a friend.  A variety of animals attempt to help him by taking him to their homes and sharing their food.  Terry quickly sees that what the animals eat is not very appetizing to him.  Finally finding home, Terry spies the butterfly again but has learned his lesson.

This would be a great book to read in a preschool or Kindergarten class.  The pictures are adorable and the story simple and straight forward.  I would recommend this book to go with units about the forest, habitats or animals.
